Tess is an ex-breeding bitch so until she came into foster, all she had known was churning out puppies and having very little human contact. (Previous to coming into foster, she was in kennels with the rest of the ex-breeding bitches.) We don't know if she has been abused but she is very wary of strangers. She is fine with her female fosterer and will happily follow her around but is still very wary of her husband. Although she doesn't run away from him now, she won't voluntarily go to him. Her female fosterer can now pick Tess up, and she will relax on her lap. Tess is more wary of men, in general.

Tess was not housetrained when she arrived, but she is learning to be clean, and accidents are getting rarer. (She has learnt to use a puppy pad.) Tess is having very little exercise at the moment, just short quiet walks, as she is only just learning to go out on the lead. The big wide world is currently very scary for her, but she is beginning to enjoy her walks away from other people and noisy traffic.

Tess loves to chew antlers and Kong-type toys. She will destroy soft-type ones. She also loves chasing pigeons in the garden. She is learning to accept being brushed and is no longer scared of the sound of clippers. (She had to be clipped off under anaesthetic when she was first rescued.) We don’t know if Tess has lived with a cat, but she has met one out on a walk and was not interested in it. Tess would only eat wet food when she arrived, but she is now learning to eat some kibble mixed in with her wet food.

Tess needs a quiet child-free home with another steady dog for guidance and company, and someone with the time, patience, and love to carry on her rehabilitation and socialising.

Tess is being fostered in Lancashire.

Please complete our adoption enquiry form if you could offer Tess the home she deserves.

N.B. All our dogs are neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We also offer rescue backup for the lifetime of the dog.

Tess's adoption fee is £300.
