Miniature Labradoodle • Female • 4 years • 18" to the withers
Susie is a sweet happy 4-year-old Miniature Labradoodle. She is very friendly with humans but does need time to become friends with other dogs. When out walking, she will bark and lunge at other dogs when she sees them. This is something that needs work. She can be feisty and will try to dominate a dog she has just met until she knows they are no threat to her. It's all bluster, though, and she does no damage. We feel this is defensive behaviour, as once she has accepted them, she is happy to play and live alongside them. Acceptance happens within an hour or so, although she will still take pops at smaller dogs, and much prefers dogs that are bigger than her. Otherwise, she is a very easygoing dog and absolutely no problem to live with. She loves cuddles and is willing to learn new things. Susie needs a quiet, stress-free home where she can relax without too much going on. She tends to take herself off to her bed if dogs around her are playful. She is currently happy with her fosterer's laid-back dogs.
Susie was diagnosed with IMHA (Immune Mediated Haemolytic Anaemia) when she was young and spent some time at vets requiring blood transfusions. After that, she was on medication for a few months, but it was gradually tapered off, and she is no longer on any medication as the issue seems to have resolved itself. We have had her spayed and vaccinated, and following strict instructions from the vet, she has had no reactions to the operation or the vaccinations. This indicates that she is now a healthy dog. However, anyone adopting her must be aware that, at some point, she MAY need further blood transfusions and/or medication. This should be considered before applying to adopt her, as insurance will not be available for this condition.
These two issues are minor, considering the amount of love and joy you will get from Susie. She is a lovely girl and deserves the very best home.
Susie is being fostered in Dumfries and Galloway.
