Leo can be and is a lovely dog with a lot of love and fun in him, but he does need an assertive dog-savvy owner to support and minimise his anxiety tendencies which, if pandered to, will make the ownership of him less pleasurable than it should be.
Leo is a happy-go-lucky and very bright dog in the norm, who thrives on a lot of interaction in the home and much prefers playing one to one with humans. To ease some of his anxiety and energy, plenty of play is recommended throughout the day.
Leo will follow you around everywhere and likes to know where you are.
Leo does react in the house to infrequent noises and needs to be instructed accordingly to minimise the barking.
If Leo hears a dog barking in the distance when out on a walk he will become scared and watchful and needs constructive guidance. Some dogs on a walk he will ignore, others he will take a dislike to and bark considerably and lurch at them. Treats are being used to minimise this. He Lives with dogs of all sizes and plays a little with the fosterer's smaller one. He is very happy to sleep downstairs amongst the other dogs at bedtime. Out and about he is choosy about who he will socialise with but in general, prefers smaller dogs and prefers to stay away from others.
Although not massively into dog company, Leo still needs the company to be able to be left for short periods in the home. A confident and well-adjusted dog is recommended for him to live with and to gain some additional doggy guidance from.
We would only recommend he lives with older children who have lived around quirky dogs before.
