Koda has been returned to Doodle Trust after a low-grade bite incident in the home. Guarding issues are common in Cockapoos, but, with the right management, they can still make lovely pets. Koda has been fostered by our behaviourist, and she is confident the right home is out there for him. Could you give him that home?

Koda loves his walks. He loves to run and swim. He is very easy on walks off lead, not causing nuisance with other dogs, or straying far from his human. Koda has a very reliable recall and will sit even when super excited. Once he realises a stranger is not a threat he is fussy and keen to make friends.

Around the house, Koda stays out of trouble. He rarely barks and can be trusted not to mess with things that don't belong to him. The only thing he has chewed has been his lead. A chain lead has addressed this. With his two walks a day, he sleeps much of the day.

Restrained, Koda does get frustrated. On lead, he can rear up and bark at other dogs. In the car, he will bark and crash around if someone comes too close. His lead reactivity is improving. Advice on how to address this will be given, and will need to be followed.

Koda has a bite history. This appears to have been motivated by resource guarding (people and food). Although this behaviour has not been seen in foster it needs to be taken very seriously. Koda will be desperate to form a strong attachment in a new home. It is very important that he learns instead to be comfortable in his own space. Protocols around feeding will also need to be followed so that he learns to eat his food without worrying about it being taken.

Koda walks with a strut which belies a worried pup quick to hide behind his owner's legs. He needs a confident owner who will show him that the world is not so scary.

Koda will require regular clipping (every 6/8 weeks) and a weekly brush with a slicker to avoid matting.

Koda has shown no sign of being aggressive towards children, or scared of them but, because of his history, we will not risk homing with children. Koda will need an owner who is able to read body language.

Koda is being fostered in Surrey.

Please complete our adoption enquiry form if you could offer Koda the home he deserves. We will review all applications and will contact you if you have been selected as a possible home.

N.B. All our dogs are neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We also offer rescue backup for the lifetime of the dog.

Koda's adoption fee is £450.
