Jackapoo • Male • 2 Years Old • 16'' to the shoulder
Duggy is a delightful, sparky little boy who is full of character. He meets life in a head-on rush, tail wagging! He loves to play, he will empty the toy box and scatter balls, tugs and toys all over. He will bring you balls to throw for him and snort at you! He is cheerful, loving and eager to please. He is a very bright little boy and learns quickly – he will watch his people and knows just how to charm you!
Although we state he's suitable for children, we would prefer that he went to a home with children over the age of 9 as he can sometimes get so excited that he nips.
He may look like a poodle, but he does have some Jack Russell characteristics – he is currently living with three other dogs, and is quite relentless in trying to get them to play, most of the time – but he has had spats with his very big foster brother and had to be firmly squashed!
On walks he has met a lot of other dogs and people – he is very happy to meet other dogs, and will pull towards them – on meeting he will sniff reasonably politely and will try to play if invited. He will also sit quietly while the humans exchange pleasantries! However, as we walk away he often barks at the retreating dogs!
He does have a high prey drive – he will watch birds in the trees, and sometimes bark; ducks on the canal are a particular excitement – he dashes backwards and forwards along the edge, barking! He loves being in the fields, splashing through streams and rooting in the bushes . . . all of this is done on a long line. He loves treats, and will often come when called and sit nicely for a treat – he’s also whistle trained, but a treat stands no chance when there’s a prospect of a mouse nest with inhabitants!
In the house he is very well behaved, he’s not destructive – though he might appropriate a sock if he thinks it’s been abandoned! He welcomes visitors (boisterously!) but settles quite quickly. He likes to know where you are in the house – he’ll usually settle wherever you are, and likes to keep you warm in the evening!
He could live with another dog, but they would need to be fairly laid back and tolerant of a little interloper!
He would really like a family of his own who will appreciate his unique character!
Duggy is being fostered in Staffordshire. Please do not apply for him if you can't go and see him.
